The workshop went extremely well and we have had some excellent feedback from staff. Both Kirsty and Paul’s presentations were spot on and really got everyone thinking. I think staff feel more on board with contributing to the school’s marketing efforts now – it has helped them to feel they are included and their views are important.
Marketing and Communications Manager
Paul is a fantastic trainer who is able to pitch his presentation to the bespoke needs of his audiences. Having held many leadership positions in the education sector, he has a diverse range of examples from which to engage staff in a dialogue about customer service and perception.
I would recommend Paul highly to anyone thinking of working with P5 Concepts.
I have known Paul for a number of years, as a Director of Marketing and Business Development. He appointed me as the Head of Physical Education in 2006. From this point forward he has played a significant role in my own personal and professional development. This year I was successfully appointed as co Headmaster of Saint Bedes School. Without hesitation I contacted Paul to request that he act as business coach to our senior leadership team. Within a month he has supported the school in developing the business processes and functionality that has led to considerable cost savings and income generation.
The manner in which he listens, processes and subsequently articulates the shared strategy continues to be a major strength of Paul’s approach. Coupled with his knowledge of tailoring opportunities to facilities, timetables and curriculum is one of the reasons Paul is regarded as a specialist in independent prep/senior school business development.
Co-Headmaster, Saint Bedes Preparatory School
Between June 2012 and July 2014, I was the Interim Finance Director for Mount St Mary’s Trust and worked alongside the Trust’s Foundation Director, Paul Scott.
Paul led several important functions within the Trust:
Marketing & Admissions – where he was responsible for developing marketing collateral, promoting the Trust’s schools to parents and other schools both locally and internationally and overseeing the admissions process.
Business Development – where he nurtured a database of alumni and other contacts of the Trust, keeping them engaged with the life of the schools and ready to make further contributions.
Trading – where he led the Trust’s initiatives to generate other income streams, most recently through a joint venture with a nationwide health and fitness trust and in the development of a strong summer letting function.
Paul used his in-‐depth knowledge of the Trust’s schools and his great enthusiasm for them to represent the Trust to very positive effect in whatever forum or company he found himself. He managed some of the Trust’s largest budgets astutely and took personal responsibility for ensuring that income and expenditure performance was carefully monitored and controlled.
He was a valuable colleague and always loyal to the Trust and tirelessly promoted its aims and objectives.
As the newly appointed Headmaster to a school that has undergone extensive re-organisation due to the current financial constraints in the independent education sector, we appointed Paul from P5 Concepts Ltd to assist in the realignment of the marketing strategy. Paul’s role was to provide expertise in marketing, admissions and to prioritise specific goals that would enable the school to combat falling pupil numbers and create a positive perception.
With Paul’s advice we were able to establish a short term plan which involved establishing two way communication between parents and school, making current parents and perspective parents aware of the schools vision, target recruitment locally as well as overseas, build relationships with local organisations and establish a targeted scholarship programme.
The results of our short term strategy has produced an extremely positive response for the next academic year with our projected intake into Year 7 up by 50%.
Paul’s vast experience in the education sector as a former teacher, head of department and business manager is evident in his approach, strategy and proven track record. He fully understands how a school works and what needs to be done to get it moving in the right direction. His relationship with all staff is excellent due to his ability to communicate the value of the plan for the future of everyone.
I have been impressed with Paul’s ability to understand what we want to achieve and then help produce a strategy that enables us to achieve it. Following the success of our initial contract for six months Paul continues to provide support to us on specific development projects, one of which is University links and sports development. This highlights the value of Paul’s unique knowledge and expertise.
